Seasonally adjusted goods exports increased by €761.6 million (+4.8%) to €16.7 billion in March 2026 compared with February 2026 (€15.9 billion), while seasonally adjusted goods imports rose by €862.5 million (+7.0%) to €13.1 billion.
The value of goods exports in March 2026 was €18.3 billion, a fall of €19.3 billion (-51.4%) compared with March 2025 (€37.6 billion).
The value of exported goods in Quarter 1 (Q1) 2026 decreased by €37.6 billion (-43.0%) to €49.9 billion, when compared with Q1 2025 (€87.4 billion).
Comparing Q1 2024 and Q1 2026, the value of export goods fell by €4.1 billion (-7.6%) from €54.0 billion in Q1 2024 to €49.9 billion in Q1 2026.
The value of goods imports went up by €1.2 billion (+9.3%) to €14.3 billion in March 2026 compared with March 2025 (€13.1 billion).
The value of imported goods in Q1 2026 increased by €0.8 billion (+2.2%) to €36.9 billion, when compared with Q1 2025 (€36.1 billion).
Exports of goods to Great Britain rose by €764.2 million (+64.1%) to €2.0 billion in March 2026 compared with March 2025 (€1.2 billion), with exports to Great Britain accounting for 10.7% of total export trade in March 2026.
The most recent month’s data on External Trade in Goods figures are provisional and subject to revision. Revisions to the monthly series back data shall take place, if and as required, on foot of late survey returns, VAT returns and corrections made by traders. The data for the same month a year ago may be considered final – revisions would be applied only in exceptional circumstances. Revisions are applied also to the volume indices and to the seasonally adjusted data.

Seasonally adjusted goods exports increased by €761.6 million (+4.8%) to €16.7 billion in March 2026 compared with February 2026 (€15.9 billion), according to preliminary figures.
Seasonally adjusted goods imports increased by €862.5 million (+7.0%) to €13.1 billion in March 2026 compared with February 2026 (€12.2 billion) (See Table 2).
Seasonal adjustment compares month-to-month data by removing fluctuations that may occur due to seasonal patterns in trade.
The value of goods exports in March 2026 was €18.3 billion. This represents a decrease in the value of exports of €19.3 billion (-51.4%) compared with March 2025 (€37.6 billion).
However, there was a record level of goods exported in March 2025. Comparing March 2024 and March 2026, the value of exported goods decreased by €0.9 billion (-4.8%) from €19.2 billion in March 2024 to €18.3 billion in March 2026 (See Table 1).
The value of exported goods in Q1 2026 decreased by €37.6 billion (-43.0%) to €49.9 billion, when compared with Q1 2025 (€87.4 billion).
Comparing Q1 2024 and Q1 2026, the value of export goods fell by €4.1 billion (-7.6%) from €54.0 billion in Q1 2024 to €49.9 billion in Q1 2026.
The (unadjusted) value of goods imports increased by €1.2 billion (+9.3%) to €14.3 billion in March 2026 compared with March 2025 (€13.1 billion).
The value of imported goods in Q1 2026 increased by €0.8 billion (+2.2%) to €36.9 billion, when compared with Q1 2025 (€36.1 billion).
In March 2026, Ireland’s top exporting partners were the United States and the Netherlands, with Ireland exporting 24.7% (€4.5 billion) and 13.5% (€2.5 billion) of total export goods respectively to these countries.
In March 2026, Ireland imported the highest value of goods from the US and Great Britain with these countries representing 13.8% (€2.0 billion) and 9.8% (€1.4 billion) respectively of the total import trade for March 2026 (See Table 3).
Exports to Great Britain increased by €764.2 million (+64.1%) to €2.0 billion in March 2026 compared with March 2025 (€1.2 billion).
Exports to Great Britain accounted for 10.7% of total export trade in March 2026.
The products which accounted for the largest share of exports to Great Britain were Machinery & Transport Equipment at €837.7 million, and Chemicals & Related Products at €382.0 million, representing 42.8% and 19.5% of total exports respectively to Great Britain in March 2026 (See Table 4).
Imports from Great Britain fell by €192.4 million (-12.1%) to €1.4 billion in March 2026 compared with March 2025 (€1.6 billion).
The products which accounted for the largest share of imports from Great Britain were Machinery & Transport Equipment at €278.3 million, and Mineral Fuels, Lubricants & Related Materials at €262.0 million, representing 19.9% and 18.8% respectively of total imports from Great Britain in March 2026.
Exports to the US fell by €21.0 billion (-82.3%) to €4.5 billion in March 2026 compared with March 2025 (€25.5 billion).
Exports to the US accounted for 24.7% of total export trade in March 2026 while they accounted for 67.7% in March 2025.
The products which accounted for the largest share of exports were Chemicals & Related Products at €2.8 billion and Miscellaneous Manufactured Articles at €779.4 million, representing 62.6% and 17.3% respectively of total exports to the US in March 2026 (See Table 4).
Imports from the US increased by €220.8 million (+12.6%) to €2.0 billion in March 2026 compared with March 2025 (€1.8 billion).
The products which accounted for the largest share of imports were Chemicals & Related Products at €702.9 million and Machinery & Transport Equipment at €669.5 million, representing 35.5% and 33.9% respectively of total imports from the US in March 2026.

Exports of Medical & Pharmaceutical Products fell by €16.5 billion (-70.0%) to €7.0 billion in March 2026 compared with March 2025 (€23.5 billion).
Exports of Organic Chemicals decreased by €3.4 billion (-70.8%) to €1.4 billion in March 2026 compared with March 2025 (€4.8 billion).
Exports of Petroleum, Petroleum Products & Related Materials increased by €48.2 million (+439.1%) to €59.2 million in March 2026 compared with March 2025 (€11.0 million) (See Table 5).
Imports of Medical & Pharmaceutical Products decreased by €792.0 million (-29.9%) to €1.9 billion in March 2026 compared with March 2025 (€2.7 billion).
Imports of Organic Chemicals declined by €62.4 million (-11.4%) to €484.7 million in March 2026 compared with March 2025 (€547.1 million).
Imports of Petroleum, Petroleum Products & Related Materials increased by €24.8 million (+5.6%) to €465.1 million in March 2026 compared with March 2025 (€440.3 million) (See Table 5).

Statistician's Comment
The Central Statistics Office (CSO) has today (15 May 2026) published Goods Exports and Imports March 2026.
Commenting on the release Jane Burmanje, Statistician in the International Trade in Goods Division said: “The value of goods exported from Ireland in Q1 2026 decreased by €37.6 billion (-43.0%) to €49.9 billion when compared with Q1 2025 (€87.4 billion). However, Q1 2025 saw a record level of exports, driven by exports of €37.6 billion recorded in March 2025, the highest level of goods exported in any one month to date.
The value of goods exported in March 2026 was €18.3 billion. This represents a decline in the value of export of €19.3 billion (-51.4%) compared with March 2025 (€37.6 billion). However, comparing March 2024 and March 2026, the value of exported goods fell by less than 5% (€0.9 billion) from €19.2 billion in March 2024 to €18.3 billion in March 2026.
In contrast, the value of good imports rose by €1.2 billion (+9.3%) to €14.3 billion in March 2026 compared with March 2025 (€13.1 billion). Imports of goods in Q1 of 2026 increased by €0.8 million (+2.2%) to €36.9 billion, when compared with Q1 2025 (€36.1 billion). Comparing imports of goods between Q1 2024 and Q1 2026, imports of goods went up by 16.3% (€5.2 billion) from €31.7 billion in Q1 2024 to €36.9 billion in Q1 2026.”
