In February 2026, seasonally adjusted trade exports in goods fell by €97.5 million (-0.6%) to €16.2 billion compared with January 2026 (€16.3 billion), according to preliminary figures.
Seasonally adjusted goods imports grew by €135.1 million (+1.1%) to €12.2 billion in February 2026 when compared with January 2026.
Unadjusted goods exports were €15.9 billion in February 2026, a decrease of €9.1 billion (-36.4%) compared with February 2025.
Unadjusted goods exports fell by €42.2 million (-0.3%) to €15.90 billion in February 2026 compared with February 2024 (€15.94 billion).
Unadjusted goods imports were down by €732.7 million (-6.1%) to €11.3 billion in February 2026 compared with February 2025 (€12.0 billion).
Exports to Great Britain increased by €257.9 million (+23.0%) to €1.4 billion in February 2026 compared with February 2025 (€1.1 billion).
Exports to the US declined by €9.0 billion (-69.7%) to €3.9 billion in February 2026 compared with February 2025 (€12.9 billion).
Exports of Medical & Pharmaceutical Products decreased by €9.6 billion (-59.9%) to €6.4 billion in February 2026 compared with February 2025 (€16.0 billion).
The most recent month’s data on External Trade in Goods figures are provisional and subject to revision. Revisions to the monthly series back data shall take place, if and as required, on foot of late survey returns, VAT returns and corrections made by traders. The data for the same month a year ago may be considered final – revisions would be applied only in exceptional circumstances. Revisions are applied also to the volume indices and to the seasonally adjusted data.

Seasonally adjusted goods exports decreased by €97.5 million (-0.6%) to €16.2 billion in February compared with January 2026 (€16.3 billion), according to preliminary figures.
Seasonally adjusted goods imports increased by €135.1 million (+1.1%), leading to a decrease of €232.6 million (-5.4%) in the seasonally adjusted trade surplus to €4.1 billion in February compared with January 2026 (€4.3 billion) (See Table 2).
Seasonal adjustment compares month-to-month data by removing fluctuations that may occur due to seasonal patterns in trade.
The (unadjusted) value of goods exports decreased by €9.1 billion (-36.4%) to €15.9 billion in February 2026 compared with February 2025 (€25.0 billion).
The (unadjusted) value of goods exports fell by €42.2 million (-0.3%) to €15.90 billion in February 2026 compared with February 2024 (€15.94 billion).
The (unadjusted) value of goods imports decreased by €732.7 million (-6.1%) to €11.3 billion in February 2026 compared with February 2025 (€12.0 billion) (See Table 1).
In February 2026, Ireland’s top exporting partners were the US, the Netherlands and Great Britain, with Ireland exporting 24.7% (€3.9 billion), 17.7% (€2.8 billion) and 8.7% (€1.4 billion) of total export goods respectively to these countries.
Ireland imported the highest value of goods in February 2026 from the US, Great Britain and China with these countries representing 16.1 % (€1.8 billion), 11.7% (€1.3 billion) and 8.5% (€962.4 million) of the total import trade for February 2026.
Exports to Great Britain increased by €257.9 million (+23.0%) to €1.4 billion in February 2026 compared with February 2025 (€1.1 billion) (See Table 3).
The products which accounted for the largest share of exports to Great Britain were Chemicals & Related Products at €510.1 million, and Food & Live Animals at €327.2 million, representing 37.0% and 23.7% respectively of total exports to Great Britain in February 2026 (See Table 3).
Imports from Great Britain increased by €77.1 million (+6.2%) to €1.3 billion in February 2026 compared with February 2025 (€1.2 billion).
The products which accounted for the largest share of imports from Great Britain were Mineral Fuels, Lubricants & Related Materials at €290.0 million, and Machinery & Transport Equipment at €273.1 million, representing 21.9% and 20.6% of total imports from Great Britain in February 2026 (See Table 4).
Exports to the US fell by €9.0 billion (-69.7%) to €3.9 billion in February 2026 compared with February 2025 (€12.9 billion) (See Table 3).
Exports to the US accounted for 24.7% (€3.9 billion) of total export trade in February 2026. It accounted for 51.8% (€12.9 billion) in February 2025.
The products which accounted for the largest share of exports were Chemicals & Related Products at €2.6 billion and Miscellaneous Manufactured Articles at €633.3 million, representing 66.3% and 16.2% respectively of total exports to the US in February 2026 (See Table 4).
Imports from the US fell by €322.3 million (-15.1%) to €1.8 billion in February 2026 compared with February 2025 (€2.1 billion).
The products which accounted for the largest share of imports were Machinery & Transport Equipment at €682.7 million and Chemicals & Related Products at €670.2 million, representing 37.5% and 36.8% respectively of total imports to US in February 2026.

Exports of Medical & Pharmaceutical Products fell by €9.6 billion (-59.9%) to €6.4 billion in February 2026 compared with February 2025 (€16.0 billion). This represented 40.5% of total exports in February 2026.
Exports of Organic Chemicals increased by €178.5 million (+12.8%) to €1.6 billion in February 2026 compared with February 2025 (€1.4 billion).
Exports of Petroleum, Petroleum Products & Related Materials increased by €37.2 million (+200.5%) to €55.7 million in February 2026 compared with February 2025 (€18.5 million) (See Table 5).
Imports of Medical & Pharmaceutical Products fell by €72.8 million (-3.6%) to €1.96 billion in February 2026 compared with February 2025 (€2.03 billion).
Imports of Organic Chemicals declined by €343.2 million (-40.8%) to €497.8 million in February 2026 compared with February 2025 (€841.0 million).
Imports of Petroleum, Petroleum Products & Related Materials fell by €163.3 million (-30.9%) to €365.6 million in February 2026 compared with February 2025 (€528.9 million) (See Table 5).

Statistician's Comment
The Central Statistics Office (CSO) has today (15 April 2026) published Goods Exports and Imports February 2026.
Commenting on the release Jane Burmanje, Statistician in the International Trade in Goods Division said: “Both exports and imports of goods fell in February 2026 compared with February 2025 with exports falling by €9.1 billion (-36.4%) to €15.9 billion and imports decreasing by €732.7 million (-6.1%) to €11.3 billion. There were exceptionally high export volumes in 2025, and looking over a longer period of time, we can see exports declined less than 1% (€42.2 million) to €15.90 billion in February 2026 when compared with February 2024 (€15.94 billion).
Both imports and exports of goods to Great Britain rose in February 2026, with exports of goods increasing by €257.9 million (+23.0%) to €1.4 billion and imports rising by €77.1 million (+6.2%) to €1.3 billion compared with February 2025.
Despite exports of goods to the US falling by more than two thirds (€9.0 billion) to €3.9 billion in February 2026 compared with February 2025 (€12.9 billion), the US remains Ireland’s top import and export goods partner.
Ireland exported a quarter of total export goods (€3.9 billion) to the US and imported 16.1 % (€1.8 billion) of total import goods from the US in February 2026.”
