The pension entitlement of households amounted to €767.3 billion at the end of 2021.
Total pension liabilities represent 177% of GDP and 329% of GNI*.
The total liabilities of defined contribution schemes was €59 billion.
The total liabilities of defined benefit schemes was €61.9 billion.
The total liability of private funded pension schemes was €120.9 billion.
The total liability of public service occupational pension schemes was €175.7 billion.
The total liability of state pension schemes under the Social Insurance Fund was €470.7 billion.
Thus the total liability of unfunded pay-as-you-go schemes was €646.4 billion.
