The lowest median weekly earnings were recorded for employments among the 15-24 years age group at €374.47 in 2024. Employments among those aged 15-24 years recorded the largest increase in median weekly earnings in 2024, at 6.0%, which compares with those aged 25-29 years who recorded an annual increase of 3.4% in median weekly earnings.
Employments among males (€993.76) and females (€786.34) in the 40-49 years age group had the highest median weekly earnings among their respective sexes, with males in this age group earning 26.4% more than their female counterparts on a weekly basis. Those in the 50-59 years age bracket recorded the next highest median weekly earnings among males at €971.04, while the next highest median weekly earnings among females were recorded among the 30-39 years age group at €783.87. A similar trend was observed in 2023.
The 40-49 years age group also recorded the highest overall mean weekly earnings at €1,151.06 in 2024, a 5.2% increase on the equivalent figure in 2023 (€1,094.55), followed by those aged 50-59 years at €1,130.28. The 15-24 years age group recorded the lowest mean weekly earnings in 2024 at €412.56.
