Figure 10.1 shows the contributions of each of the different types of expenditure to the total Households Expenditure on Goods & Services in Ireland in 2024. Of this total, Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas & Other Fuels account for 25.6%, Restaurants & Hotels account for 16.0%, Transport accounts for 10.1%, while Food & Non-alcoholic Beverages account for 9.9%.

Figure 10.2 above shows the percentage change in each of the components of Households Expenditure on Goods & Services in Ireland in 2024. There was a large expenditure increase in Clothing & Footwear which rose by 13.4%. Other areas which saw more modest increases include Restaurants & Hotels which increased by 5.3% and Transport which grew by 4.2%. Expenditure in some areas fell including Alcoholic Beverages, Tobacco and Narcotics which decreased by 2.2%.
