I am pleased to present the 2025 Gender Pay Gap report for the Central Statistics Office (CSO). The CSO is Ireland’s National Statistical Institute, and our core mandate is to provide high-quality, independent, objective, relevant and trusted information, compiled with integrity and transparency.

It is essential for our ongoing success that we have a diverse and inclusive workforce where everyone, regardless of gender, can reach their full potential and flourish at all levels of the organisation.

The data shows that the CSO’s gender pay gap has reduced to 3.5%, in favour of male employees. This is a positive finding and continues the year-on-year decrease witnessed since our first report in 2022. In this report we examine the underlying factors contributing to the CSO gender pay gap. The analysis finds that the existence of the gap continues to be primarily driven by the varying percentages of males and females across all grades. As we make significant progress in achieving greater gender parity across all levels in the organisation, the gender pay gap is reducing.

The work that we are doing to close the gender pay gap is part of a broader ongoing commitment to fostering an organisational culture where everyone is valued and empowered to succeed regardless of gender. In this report we have included details of practical measures already taken or planned to be taken in this regard. I am committed to ensuring that our progress endures and results in real, lasting change whilst recognising that maintaining this momentum will require significant long-term effort and commitment.

I look forward to overseeing and monitoring the actions arising from this report plus new and emerging actions as we continue to build a diverse and inclusive workforce across all levels of the CSO.
