Promote Use of bicycles

CSO has had bicycle parking in place for several years, including the availability of bikes for staff to use at lunchtime.

In 2025 the CSO will aim to achieve the Smarter Travel Mark.

This is a three-tier certification that recognises and celebrates organisations that support active and sustainable travel on the commute and beyond for their workforce and visitors, resulting in a reduction in single-person car usage. Facilities Management plan to apply for the bronze level award during 2025. This will recognise basic measures that we have in place, which support sustainable and active commuting and that we are committed to looking into further smarter travel options.

We plan to partner with our Well-Being division to promote sustainable travel alternatives to a car. We will focus on communications and encourage staff to take alternative transport when getting to and from the office. We will research and propose a smarter travel policy. We already provide some onsite facilities which support sustainable travel such as showers, an area to change and bike sheds.

The majority of the above are cost neutral measures which should help us achieve the bronze tier smarter travel award during 2024/2025.

Reduction in parking

The introduction of a parking space booking app in the Rathmines office has allowed the office to start reducing offsite parking facilities, making the best use of the parking spaces available onsite. A number of car parking spaces have also been repurposed as EV charging spaces, therefore reducing the amount of car parking spaces available.
