Survey purpose:

The Social Impact of COVID-19 survey was undertaken to measure the impact COVID-19 has had on Irish society in February 2021. The survey focussed on the impact that COVID-19 has had on personal well-being, the impact of school closures, vaccine attitudes and holiday expectations. It also covered topics such as levels of compliance with government guidelines, return to life similar to pre-COVID-19 and expectations regarding international travel.

Statistical Population:

All individuals aged 18 years and over living in private households in Ireland. The original Labour Force Survey (LFS) sample from which the sample for the first wave of the Social Impact of COVID-19 survey was selected was based on Census 2011 data. Additions to the sample for subsequent waves of the Social Impact of COVID-19 survey were selected from an LFS sample based on Census 2016.

Sampling Frame:

The sampling frame consisted of respondents aged 18 years and over that had participated in the LFS commencing Q1 2019. Contact details were collected from those aged under 75 years that completed 5 waves of the survey and from those aged 75 years and over that completed the first wave. The frame is limited to those that provided an email address with only one point of contact per household.
