The CSO are proud to mark the halfway point of the four-year, Eurostat-funded project: AI and Machine Learning for Official Statistics (AIML4OS). This project, which is being coordinated by the CSO, brings together 230 people from 16 countries to support the responsible use of AI in the production of official statistics. Since the project launch in Wiesbaden, Germany in April 2024, a number of important milestones have been reached. We have completed 10 deliverables, set up a review panel, and held several in-person meetings, workshops and hackathons. In the final two years there are 29 more deliverables still to come, which will result in a comprehensive set of resources or ‘One Stop Shop’ for staff across the European Statistical System to develop innovative solutions for statistical products and services. Work produced to date on the project can be found on its AIML4OS GitHub website.
