External debt is a country's point in time stock of liabilities to non-residents other than those arising from transactions in equity or financial derivative contracts. Many of the individual data items shown in the External Debt statement are exactly the same as those presented in the IIP statement on the liabilities side.
External Debt information is published together with International Investment Position information in the form of a quarterly release titled Quarterly International Investment Position and External Debt.
