In August of 2024 this Memorandum of Understanding between the Central Statistics Office (CSO) and Student Universal Support Ireland (SUSI) in relation to technical matters, data exchange, security, quality and frequency was signed by Jennifer Banim, Director General, CSO, and Philip Connolly, Director of Services, SUSI.
The purpose of this MoU is to clarify the roles and responsibilities of, as well as the areas of cooperation between, the CSO and SUSI with regard to SUSI sharing data with the CSO.
In July 2018, the Director-General of the Central Statistics Office (CSO), Mr. Pádraig Dalton, and the Head of Operations of Student Universal Support Ireland (SUSI), Mr. Alan Murphy, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (PDF 2,755KB) (MoU) covering enhanced data cooperation between the two Offices.
The MoU allows for SUSI to provide the CSO with extracts from their database on grant applications and payments, and follows a request to SUSI by the CSO under Section 30 of the Statistics Act, 1993. Section 30 of the Statistics Act, 1993. governs the use of records of Public Authorities for Statistical Purposes.
This MoU sets out the factors contributing to the request of this information and arrangements that have been agreed between the CSO and SUSI for the transmission and usage of this data.
