In July 2022, a Memorandum Of Understanding between the CSO and Teagasc (PDF 965KB) was agreed. The Memorandum was signed by Mr. Pádraig Dalton, Director General, CSO, and Mr. Frank O’Mara, Director of Research, Teagasc.
It allows the CSO to provide Teagasc with a list of sample farms needed for the annual National Farm Survey (NFS). Additionally, the CSO provide a list of sample farms for the Small Farms Survey (SFS). Teagasc is designated as Ireland’s EU Farm Accountancy Data Network (FADN) Liaison Agency and is required to run and process the NFS. Numerous CSO outputs are dependent on the results of the NFS. The provision of the list of farms is made in accordance with Section 11(1) of the Statistics Act, 1993.
This Memorandum of Understanding clarifies the roles and responsibilities of the CSO and Teagasc in relation to the compilation and transmission of the list of sample farms.
