Rainfall by Meteorological Weather Station

The information we present on this page is related to rainfall information based on data from Met Éireann.

Met Éireann has a network of weather stations across the country that gather weather data. These stations provide data in monthly, daily and/or hourly intervals. These stations gather data on several variables including rainfall, sunshine duration, temperature and wind.

The CSO presents data from 12 of these weather stations:

• Belmullet, Casement, Claremorris, Cork Airport, Dublin Airport, Malin Head, Markree, Mullingar, Phoenix Park, Roches Point, Shannon Airport, Valentia Observatory.

All the currently available climate related tables are accessible on the CSO Open Data Platform.

Monthly Rainfall Data

This section presents the monthly aggregate for precipitation amount in millimeters. The table presents the precipitation amounts for a month from the previous five years for all twelve of the weather stations in the data table. The plot shows the precipitation amount for the most recent fourteen months available in the data table for Cork Airport, Dublin Airport, Belmullet and Malin Head.

Data for more months is avaiable in the monthly Percipitation Amount data table MTM05.

Daily Rainfall Data

This section presents the daily aggregate for precipitation amount in millimeters. The table presents the precipitation amount of the most recent ten days available in the data table for the Cork Airport, Dublin Airport, Belmullet and Malin Head weather stations. The plot below shows data for the same weather stations for the most recent 30 days available in the data table.

Hourly Rainfall Data

This section presents the hourly aggregate for precipitation amount in millimeters. The table presents the hourly rainfall for Cork Airport, Dublin Airport, Belmullet and Malin Head for the most recent 24 hour period in the data table. The chart displays the the hourly rainfall for the same weather stations for the same time period.
