The CSO carries out the Labour Force Survey (LFS) which is a household survey that provides official statistics about employment and the labour market. The LFS also provides information on people who work in the construction sector, and whether they mainly work on new homes or in other aspects of construction. This allows us to report on the number of people working on building new homes over time. Note that the LFS has only begun to collect this data recently so it may be subject to revision.
