The EU and North America were Ireland’s most significant trading blocs in 2024.  Exports to the EU, at €88.4 billion, represented 39% of total goods exported.  Exports to North America were €81.3 billion, accounting for 36% of the total.   Ireland had a goods trade deficit with Asia in 2024; exports were valued at €23.8 billion, while our imports from Asia were €30.7 billion, giving a goods trade deficit of €6.9 billion.  Ireland also had a trade deficit of €1 billion with the UK, exports to the UK were valued at €20.7 billion, while imports from the UK were €21.7 billion.

Irelands top trade partners in the EU were the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and France. Together they accounted for exports valued at €66 billion and imports valued at €36 billion with the EU.

Ireland’s trade with the US, our largest trade partner in North America, comprised exports valued at €73.5 billion and imports valued at €22.9 billion in 2024.

Our largest trade partner in Asia was China, with €9.4 billion of exports and €11.8 billion of imports.
