The EU is Ireland’s largest trading partner, with over €81 billion of exports in 2023. Almost €60 billion of that was exports of Chemicals & Related Products. We exported over €22 billion to the UK in 2023, and €5 billion to non-EU European countries, of which €4 billion was exported to Switzerland.
Ireland exported over €22 billion to the UK in 2023. There was €5.6 billion of Food & Live Animals exported, of which €3.9 billion went to Great Britain, and €1.7 billion went to Northern Ireland.
The EU accounted for 57% of total imports from Europe in 2023. France was the biggest import partner within the EU, accounting for €17.6 billion of imports, of which €11 billion were aircraft. There were €26.3 billion of imports from the UK, of which €5.5 billion was Mineral Fuels, Lubricants & Related Materials. The UK also accounted for 46% of the total imports of Food & Live Animals imported from Europe in 2023.
