This release has been compiled during the COVID-19 crisis. The results contained in this release reflect some of the economic impacts of the COVID-19 situation.

Key findings

  • Data for the end of March 2022 show that car traffic volumes in Dublin increased by 29% compared with week one of this year but remained below pre COVID-19 levels
  • Monthly peak volume of bicycles at selected Dublin sites increased by 29% compared with last month
  • There were 11,872 new private cars and 3,902 used (imported) private cars licensed in March 2022
  • There were 15 fatalities on Irish roads in March 2022 compared with 10 in the same month in 2021 and 11 in 2019
