- Large enterprises with more than 250 employees made up €85bn (52%) of total service exports (€162bn) in 2017.
- Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with less than 250 employees, together accounted for €48bn (30%) of total exports while small enterprises made up €30bn (19%) of the total.
- The remaining 18% of service exports (€29bn) consisted of enterprises of unknown size (which represented quarterly estimates as well as travel, some financial and government services).
- Large enterprises made up €147bn (72%) of total service imports (€205bn) in 2017.
- SMEs accounted for €37bn (18%) of total imports while small enterprises made up €25bn (12%) of the service imports total.
- The remaining 11% of service imports (€22bn) consisted of enterprises of unknown size.
