Statistician's Comment

The Central Statistics Office (CSO) has today (15 December 2025) published the Services Producer Price Index Quarter 3 (Q3) 2025.

The Services Producer Price Index (SPPI) is a business cycle indicator which provides information on the development of prices for numerous services sectors. This information is used for the analysis of inflation and its sources, but also for the deflation of value measures in the service industry (See Background Notes).

Commenting on the release, Diarmuid Martin, Statistician in the Prices Division, said: "Services Prices charged to businesses and consumers in July, August, and September (Q3) 2025 were on average 1.9% higher when compared with the same quarter in 2024 (See Table 1 & Figure 1). In comparison, for Q3 2024 the Services Producer Price Index reported an annual percentage change of 7.4% (See Table 1).

In the 12 months to Q3 2025, an increase of 14.3% was recorded in the Real Estate & Rental sector. This increase was contrasted with a price fall in a range of sectors including Transport (-6.1%) and Information & Communication (-4.9%), when compared with the same quarter in 2024 (See Table 2b & Figure 2)."
