- Social protection expenditure in 2024 amounted to €69.9 billion. This was an increase of €4 billion (5.9%) on 2023.
- Spending on the Sickness function was €29.9bn.
- Spending on the Old Age function was €18.4bn.
- Spending on Family Function was €5.9bn.
- Spending on the Housing function was €4bn.
- Spending on the Disability function was €3.6bn.
- Spending on the Unemployment function was €2.5bn.
- Spending on Administration was €2.4bn.
- Spending on the Survivor function was €2.6bn.
- Spending on the Social Exclusion function was €0.4bn.
