This movement is a sharp reversal on the previous month and is largely driven by activity in the Information & Communication sector’s value (+7.5%) and volume (+8.4%) indices. The performance of the services economy excluding the Information & Communication sector can be observed in the Modified Monthly Services Index which displayed a more modest monthly increase of 1.6% and 1.8% in value and volume terms respectively.
The largest monthly value increases were in Other Service Activities (+9.7%) and Information & Communication (+7.5%). The only sector showing a value decrease was Transportation & Storage (-2.9%).
In volume terms, the largest monthly growth was observed in Information & Communication (+8.4%) and Other Service Activities (+7.9%), while Transportation & Storage (-1.9%) recorded the only monthly decline.
Looking at changes on an annual basis, the value of All Services was 20.9% higher and was up 26.0% in volume terms in May 2025 when compared with May 2024. This increase is largely driven by the strong performance of the Information & Communication sector over the previous 12months, up 45.7% in value and 37.5% and volume. The Modified Monthly Services Index shows All Services excluding Information & Communication grew by 1.5% in value and 2.5% in volume when compared with May 2024.
