In November, 4,443 dwelling purchases by households at market prices were filed with Revenue. This represents a 3.8% decrease compared with the 4,618 purchases in November 2023 and a 9.0% decrease compared with the 4,881 purchases in October 2024. The total value of transactions filed in November was €1.9 billion.
Existing dwellings accounted for 3,471 (78.1%) of the dwelling purchases filed in November, a decrease of 5.8% compared with November 2023. The balance of 972 (21.9%) were new dwellings, an increase of 4.0% compared with November 2023. See Figure 2.1.
In the year to November, 48,661 dwelling purchases by households at market prices were filed with Revenue. Of these, 17,443 (35.8%) were purchased by first time buyer owner-occupiers, while former owner-occupiers purchased 25,807 (53.0%). The balance of 5,411 (11.1%) were acquired by non-occupiers. See Figure 2.2.
Revenue data shows that there were 1,639 first-time buyer purchases in November 2024, an increase of 2.5% on the 1,599 recorded in November 2023. These purchases were made up of 592 new dwellings and 1,047 existing dwellings.

Households paid a median price of €350,000 for a dwelling on the residential property market in the 12 months to November 2024.
The Dublin region had the highest median price (€470,000) in the year to November. Within the Dublin region, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown had the highest median price (€654,999), while Fingal had the lowest (€440,000).
The highest median prices outside of Dublin were in Wicklow (€455,000) and Kildare (€399,999), while the lowest median price was €180,000 in both Leitrim and Longford. See Map 2.1.
In the year to November, the Eircode area with the highest median price for household dwelling purchases was D06 'Dublin 6' (€725,000). The five most expensive Eircode areas by median price were in Dublin. The second most expensive Eircode area was A94 'Blackrock', where the median price was €720,000. The third most expensive Eircode area was A96 'Glenageary' which had a median price of €700,000.
The Eircode area with the least expensive median price within Dublin was K32 'Balbriggan', where the median price was €303,500.
Outside of Dublin the most expensive Eircode area over the last twelve months was A98 ‘Bray’, with a median price of €530,000. The second most expensive Eircode area was A63 'Greystones' with a median price of €522,000.
The least expensive Eircode area over the last 12 months was H23 'Clones', with a median price of €127,000. The second least expensive Eircode area was F45 'Castlerea', with a median price of €145,823. The third least expensive Eircode area was F35 'Ballyhaunis', which had a median price of €147,000.
