Table 3.2 shows the trend in recorded crime incidents for a period of five years 2014-2018. This information is presented graphically in figures 3.1 and 3.2. The number of reported Sexual Offences has risen consistently throughout the period, from 1,970 incidents in 2014 to 3,182 in 2018. This represents an increase of greater than 60% over the period.

The fall in reported Burglary and related offences in 2018 recommenced a downward trend which had been observed for several years but which reversed in 2017. Burglaries have now fallen almost 40% from 27,690 incidents in 2014 to 16,969 incidents in 2018.
