Females were more likely to travel between 13:00 and 15:59 with almost a quarter of their total journeys (24.1%) made during this time.

The degree of urbanisation had relatively little impact on the time of departure of journeys in 2013. The pattern of travel based on time was relatively similar across all three areas.

The percentage of total journeys made between midnight and 07:00 by those aged 18-34 (5.4%) was higher than that for any other age group. This age cohort was also more likely to make more journeys between 19:00 and midnight, making 19.4% of all their journeys during this time compared to 16.3% of journeys made by 35-54 year olds and just 11.2% of journeys made by those aged 55 and over.
