In 2013, six out of every 10 journeys (60.4%) undertaken by those living outside Dublin took 15 minutes or less to complete. For those living in Dublin half of all journeys (51.1%) took 15 minutes or less. In general, the journeys of those living in Dublin took longer.

People living outside Dublin were more likely to travel longer distances. Close to half of journeys (44.7%) made by those living outside of Dublin in 2013 were eight kilometres or more, in comparison to those living in Dublin where just one third of all journeys (34.6%) were of a similar distance.

The majority of journeys which had a distance of eight kilometres or less were completed in less than 15 minutes. In the case of journeys less than two kilometres, almost all (92.8%), were 15 minutes or less. Almost one in three journeys (32.7%) of eight kilometres or more took longer than 30 minutes to complete.
