Domestic Milk Intake by creameries and pasteurisers was estimated at 1,027.2 million litres for July 2022. This represents a 1% increase over July 2021.
Domestic Milk Intake for the period January to July 2022 was estimated at 5,664.8 million litres, a decrease of 25.6 million litres (-0.4%) when compared to the corresponding period for 2021.
Fat content increased from 3.99% in July 2021 to 4.03% in July 2022. Protein content also increased from 3.43% to 3.47% for the same period.
Skim Milk Powder production increased by 30.8% from 17,100 tonnes in July 2021 to 22,300 tonnes in July 2022.
Butter production decreased from 30,800 tonnes in July 2021 to 29,100 tonnes in July 2022.
Table 1 presents analysis on month versus month and year-to-date comparisons of the current year and previous year's domestic milk intake.
Figure 1 shows up-to-date trends of monthly domestic milk intake for 2021 and 2022.

Statistician's Comment
The Central Statistics Office (CSO) has today (31 August 2022) published Milk Statistics for July 2022.
Commenting on the release, Dr Grzegorz Głaczyński, Statistician, said: “The figures show an increase in domestic milk intake by creameries and pasteurisers of 1.0% in July 2022, when compared to the same month in 2021. Domestic milk intake decreased during the period January to July 2022 (-0.4%), compared to the same period in 2021."
