  • The number of weapons and explosives offences fell by 42% between 2010 and 2015, falling from 4,099 recorded offences in 2010 to 2,377 in 2015.
  • Dangerous or negligent acts decreased by 40%, from 12,093 in 2010 to 7,224 in 2015. These offences are mainly concerned with drink driving.
  • Public order and other social code offences fell by 39%, from 54,941 in 2010 to 33,276 in 2015. Most of the offences in this grouping are ones of disorderly conduct.
  • Between 2010 and 2015 the number of kidnapping and related offences rose from 134 to 152, an increase of 13%.

  • Certain crimes, by their nature, are detected more frequently than others, such as dangerous or negligent acts (whih are mainly speeding offences), road and traffic offences and controlled drug offences.
  • Crimes with low detection rates of around 20% include burglary and related offences and damage to property and to the environment.
