One notable finding in the Q3 results of the Labour Force Survey was that the Youth Employment rate - which is the percentage of those aged 15-24 who were in employment - rose to 50.9%. This is the first time since 2008 that over half of young people were in some form of employment. This was driven by an extra 17,500 young people in part-time employment compared with an increase of 600 in full-time employment.
One finding that stood out from the third quarter results of the Labour Force Survey is that the long-term unemployment rate-defined as those who have been unemployed for more than a year - was 0.9%. This is the lowest rate reported in 26 years. When the series started in 1998, it was at 4.4% and peaked at 9.8% in Q1 2012.
