Overall, 11% reported having an electric vehicle in their household (See Table 5.1). Regionally, the Northern and Western Region had lower levels of electric vehicles in their household, at 7%, than the Southern Region at 11% and Eastern and Midland Region at 12%.
When surveyed on aspects of where and when people charge electric vehicles, around three out of every four reported most often charging their electric vehicles at home rather than elsewhere (See Table 5.2). Further over 70% of those charging their vehicle at home did so at night (See Table 5.3).
People were asked about likelihood of purchasing an electric vehicle when next purchasing a car (See Table 5.4, Table 5.5, and Figure 5.1). In total, 8% reported being most likely to purchase a battery electric vehicle when they next purchase a car, 10% a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, 13% a non-plug-in hybrid and 41% reported being more likely to purchase a petrol or diesel vehicle. At 52%, a higher proportion of those in rural locations report not being likely to purchase an electric vehicle when they next purchase a car compared with 36% of urban dwellers.
