Unadjusted goods exports were €19.5 billion in June 2023, an increase of €1.8 billion compared with June last year.
Unadjusted goods imports were €12.3 billion, which was €500 million less than imports in June 2022.
Seasonally adjusted goods exports were €18.3 billion in June 2023, an increase of over €2.4 billion compared with May 2023.
Seasonally adjusted goods imports were €11.6 billion in June 2023.
Exports to Great Britain were €2.3 billion in June 2023, while imports from Great Britain were €1.7 billion.

Seasonally adjusted goods exports grew by €2,422 million (+15%) to €18,279 million in June 2023 compared with May 2023, according to preliminary figures.
Seasonally adjusted goods imports fell by €333 million (-3%) to €11,595 million leading to an increase of €2,756 million (+70%) in the seasonally adjusted trade surplus to €6,683 million in June 2023 compared with May 2023 (See Table 2). Seasonal adjustment compares month-to-month data by removing fluctuations that may occur due to seasonal patterns in trade.

The (unadjusted) value of goods exports grew by €1,838 million (+10%) to €19,550 million in June 2023 compared with June 2022. The value of goods exports for the period January to June 2023 was down by €2,989 million (-3%) to €102,045 million, when compared with the same period of 2022.
The (unadjusted) value of goods imports decreased by €522 million (-4%) to €12,308 million in June 2023 compared with June 2022. The value of goods imports for the first half of 2023 increased by €1,594 million (+2%) to €69,412 million, when compared with the same period of 2022.
Exports to Great Britain were €2,330 million, which was 12% of total exports in June 2023. The products which accounted for the largest share of exports were Chemicals & Related Products at €1,383 million and Food & Live Animals with €345 million. Exports to Great Britain for the first six months of 2023 increased by €786 million (+9%) to €9,528 million when compared with the first six months of 2022.
Imports from Great Britain in June 2023 were €1,741 million, which was 14% of the total value of imports. Imports of Chemicals & Related Products accounted for €475 million, and imports of Mineral Fuels, Lubricants & Related Materials were valued at €338 million. Imports from Great Britain in the first half of 2023 were virtually identical to the same period in 2022, increasing by €12 million (+0.1%) to €11,453 million (See Table 5).
The EU accounted for €6,708 million (34%) of total goods exports in June 2023, of which €1,703 million went to Belgium, €1,335 million went to Germany and €1,263 million went to the Netherlands.
The USA was the main non-EU destination accounting for €5,696 million (29%) of total exports in June 2023 (See Table 4).

Exports of Medical & Pharmaceutical Products increased by €621 million (+10%) to €7,076 million in June 2023 compared with June 2022. This represented 36% of total exports.
Exports of Organic Chemicals increased by €1,309 million (+42%) to €4,436 million in June 2023 compared with June 2022.
Exports of Electrical Machinery, Apparatus & Appliances fell by €595 million (-48%) to €633 million.
Exports of Food and Live Animals fell by €67 million (-5%) to €1,364 million (See Table 3).
Imports of Mineral Fuels, Lubricants & Related Materials decreased by €296 million (-29%) to €708 million.
Imports of Organic Chemicals fell by €408 million (-17%) to €2,020 million.
Imports of Electrical Machinery, Apparatus & Appliances fell by €89 million (-11%) to €692 million.
Imports of other transport equipment (including aircraft) increased by €354 million (+24%) to €1,804 million (See Table 3).

Statistician's Comment
The Central Statistics Office (CSO) has today (15 August 2023) released Goods Exports and Imports June 2023.
Commenting on the release, Ciarán Counihan, Statistician in the International Trade in Goods Division said: “In June 2023, Ireland’s unadjusted exports of goods increased by €1.8 billion to €19.5 billion compared with June 2022. When seasonally adjusted, exports of goods grew by more than €2.4 billion compared with May 2023.
The unadjusted imports for June 2023 were valued at €12.3 billion, down by €500 million on June 2022. Seasonally adjusted imports were €11.6 billion in June 2023.
Comparing the first half of 2023 with the same period in 2022, exports of goods were down 3%, and the value of imports increased by 2%. Exports for the first six months of 2023 were more than €102 billion.
Imports from Great Britain fell by 20% to €1.7 billion in June 2023 compared with June 2022, and the largest decrease was in the imports of Chemicals & Related Products which fell by 41%.
Exports to Great Britain grew by 19% to €2.3 billion in June 2023 from June 2022.”
