In the 12 months to May 2025, the Agricultural Output Price Index rose by 20.7% and the Agricultural Input Price Index rose slightly by 0.1%.
The Agricultural Output Price Index for May 2025 was down by 0.8% in the month since April 2025. Over the same period, the Input Price Index was 0.2% lower.
The most significant Output Price increases in the 12 months to May 2025 were in Cattle (+48.0%), Wool (+31.9%), and Milk (+14.2%), while decreases were recorded in Potatoes (-15.1%) and Sheep (-7.0%).
Over the 12 months to May 2025, increases in the Input prices were recorded for Fertilisers (+10.2%) and Veterinary Expenses (+4.7%), while Motor Fuels and Feeding Stuffs fell by 8.0% and 2.3% respectively.
Terms of Trade fell by 0.6% in May 2025 when compared with the previous month and was 20.6% higher when compared with May 2024.

Statistician's Comment
The Central Statistics Office (CSO) has today (15 July 2025) published Agricultural Price Indices May 2025.
Commenting on the release, Sam Scriven, Senior Statistician in the Agriculture Division, said: "Agricultural prices fell in the month to May 2025 with the Agricultural Output Price Index decreasing by 0.8% and the Input Price Index falling by 0.2%.
Compared with May 2024, the Output Price Index rose by 20.7% and the Input Price Index was up 0.1%.
The Output Price Indices for Cattle (+48.0%), Milk (+14.2%), and Eggs (+4.2%) all rose over the 12 months to May 2025 while the Indices for Potatoes (-15.1%) and Sheep (-7.0%) were both lower than in May 2024.
Within the Input Price Index, Fertilisers rose by 10.2% while Motor Fuels (-8.0%), and Feeding Stuffs (-2.3%) were lower than in May 2024."
