The following tables show a further breakdown of the Personal Consumption of goods and services items from Expenditure.

Figure 10.1 shows the contributions of each of the different types of expenditure to the total Households Expenditure on Goods & Services in Ireland. Of this total, expenditure on Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas & Other Fuels accounts for 26.4%, Restaurants & Hotels account for 15.7%, Transport accounts for 10.1%, while Food & Non-alcoholic Beverages accounts for 8.6%.

Figure 10.2 above shows the percentage change in each of the components of Households Expenditure on Goods & Services in Ireland in 2023. There was a large expenditure increase in Miscellaneous Goods & Services (up 12.1%) which captures, inter alia, goods for personal care, social protection and financial services. Other areas of expenditure which saw significant increases included Transport (up 11.5%) and Health (up 7.4%).
