The main regional indicators for 2022 at NUTS3 level are presented below in Table 2.1.
The volume of sales was the highest in the West (Galway, Mayo, and Roscommon) region, where 11,061 acres of agricultural land have changed hands, while only 338 acres were sold in the Dublin region and 5,565 acres in the South-East (Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford, and Wexford). See Figure 2.1.
Purchasers in the Mid-West region (Clare, Limerick, and Tipperary) spent €84.9 million on agricultural land, more than in any other region. At the other end of the spectrum, only €5.3 million was spent in the Dublin region and €54.4 million in the Border (Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Monaghan, and Sligo) region. See Figure 2.2.
Purchasers in Dublin and the Mid-East (Kildare, Louth, Meath, and Wicklow) regions paid the highest median price per acre of €18,395 and €12,307, respectively. The land was most affordable in the West (Galway, Mayo, and Roscommon) region, where the median price was €6,039 per acre. See Figure 2.3.
The mean price of an acre of agricultural land was the highest in Dublin and the Mid-East (Kildare, Louth, Meath, and Wicklow) regions, where it reached €15,685 and €14,252, respectively. The mean price in the West region was €5,782 per acre, the lowest in the country. See Figure 2.4.
