Total assets grew by 52.1% between the end of 2014 and the end of 2024. This reflects an average annual growth rate of 4.4% over the same period. The largest came in 2015 when assets increased by 14.5%. Total assets decreased in 2017 and 2020 with changes of -1.8% and -6.4% respectively.

Tangible fixed assets grew by 63.1% over the period, with the largest increase of 16.5% occurring between 2014 and 2015. Over the 10-year period, the largest recorded rise of any asset class was a 95.6% increase in other assets. In comparison, the only asset class which decreased over the period was debtors which fell from €18.8bn in 2014 to €9.9bn in 2024.
In 2014 the industry was financed primarily through loans (60.5%) and equity (19.0%). The proportion of loan-financing fell to 55.4% by 2024 while equity financing grew slightly to 19.6%. Bonds, notes and other funding have increased from a combined 15.6% in 2014 to 22.0% in 2024. The proportion of funding from creditors fell from 4.9% in 2014 to 3.0% in 2024.
