Structure of Earnings Survey
The Structure of Earnings Survey (SES) is a statutory statistical survey conducted annually under the provisions of the Statistics (Structure of Earnings Survey) Order 2019 (S.I. No 368 of 2019). Under Section 26 of the 1993 Statistics Act you are obliged by law to complete and return this form. Any person who fails or refuses to provide this information or who knowingly provides false information may be subject to prosecution under Part VI of the Act.
The data is also collected to meet our 4 yearly requirements under COUNCIL REGULATION (EC) No 530/1999.
Our results are only ever made available in aggregate form to the public and we make sure that it is impossible for individuals or businesses to be identified. The data you provide in this survey will be held for a maximum period of seven years from the date of issue, subject to survey requirements.
Anonymised survey information may be provided to other government departments, approved organisations and approved researchers for statistical purposes only e.g. Eurostat.
Yes. All information supplied to the CSO is treated as strictly confidential. The Statistics Act 1993 sets stringent confidentiality standards: information collected may be used only for statistical purposes and no details that might be related to an identifiable person or business undertaking may be divulged to any other government department or body.
In addition to the data collected directly from survey respondents CSO will also make use of administrative data provided to the CSO by the Revenue Commissioners (Gross Annual Pay, PRSI class, PRSI-credited weeks in employment) and Department of Employment and Social Protection (Gender, Nationality, County of Residence, Age).
