When you take part in a CSO competition we need to collect information about you and your entry.

The information we collect is:

  • The name and address of your school
  • The name of the teacher who entered you in the competition and their contact details.
  • We also collect your name, date of birth and the name of your competition poster.

This information helps us to organise the competition entries.

It also helps us to contact your teacher or school if we have any question about your entry (or if it is missing some information).

It also allows us to contact you and your school if you are a winner in the competition and to give you your prize.

We do not give your information to anyone outside of the CSO.

If you are a winner, we will ask you for your permission if you would like to take part in an international competition and represent the CSO and Ireland. We will also ask you for your permission to use your photo on social media or on the newspapers.

If you are not happy about how we use your information you may make a complaint.

You can complain by emailing studentcompetitions@cso.ie

You can also email the person in charge of data in Ireland by emailing: dpo@cso.ie

If you have any other questions or do not understand any information you have read here, you can email  studentcompetitions@cso.ie and we will help you with your question.
