Agriculture June Survey
The purpose of the Agriculture June Survey is to compile statistics on farming activity undertaken each June.
The June survey is a survey that is carried out annually under Section 24 of the Statistics Act, 1993. Participation in the survey is voluntary.
This survey is conducted to comply with the requirements of Regulation (EC) No 543/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council concerning crop statistics and Regulation (EC) No 1165/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council concerning livestock and meat statistics.
Our results are only ever made available to the public in aggregate form and we make sure that it is impossible for individuals or farms to be identified.
The data collected in this survey will be made available to Eurostat to enable the examination of trends in the structure of agricultural holdings between Ireland and other EU Member States.
The data is used extensively by national and international agricultural agencies, Eurostat and Government Departments.
Yes. All information supplied to the CSO is treated as strictly confidential. The Statistics Act, 1993 sets stringent confidentiality standards. Information collected may be used only for statistical purposes, and no details related to an identifiable person or farm may be divulged to any other government department or body.
Our results are only ever made available in aggregate form and we make sure that it is impossible for individuals or farms to be identified. The data will be securely held for a maximum period of ten years from the date of issue of this survey and can only be used for statistical purposes.
In addition to the data collected directly from survey respondents CSO will also make use of administrative data provided to the CSO by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (Basic Payment Scheme and the Animal Identification and Movement System) and the Irish Cattle Breeding Fedaration (ICBF).
