Item 1: Welcome and Introduction – Paul Morrin, CSO

  • Welcomed everyone to the meeting

Item 2:  Analysis of HAP report -  Justin Anderson, CSO

  • Presentation on recent publication by the CSO which looked at HAP households and properties using administrative data to examine the scheme.
  • This detailed the background to the report and the data sources used and showed some key findings from this publication

Questions/comments:

  • Question and comment on trying to expand on this analysis and initial plans and further analysis of rental data
  • Interest in further analysis of property types in HAP

Item 3: Tenure and Households in Ireland – Michael Courtney, CSO

  • Presentation on recent CSO report on tenure and households
  • This included detail of categories, themes and data sources included in the report as well as highlighting some of the key findings

Questions/comments

  • There was some clarification on level of geographical breakdown included in the publication

Item 4: Update on statistical projects within the Department of Housing - George Hussey, DHLGH

  • Update given on the Statistics and Data Analytics Unit (SDAU) within DHLGH
  • This included structure updates and broader developments within the department and detailed progress and plans for the Housing Need Demand Assessment (HNDA) tool
  • Detail was also given on ICT and GIS projects and future plans

  • There was comment on how the HNDA may be used and with outputs being used as targets

Further questions/comments

  • Discussion on differences between New Dwelling Completion figures in 2020 and estimates based on BER certs
  • Comment on potential to do further work related to housing and COVID-19
