The Census Homeless Methodology Liaison Group will play an important role in assessing the priorities and issues in the procedure to count homeless persons in the forthcoming census in 2016. The group will also facilitate the effective exchange of information in the area of homeless statistics between the main compilers and users of these statistics.
The role of the Group shall be to:
1. Promote best practice in the compilation of homeless statistics in the context of the 2016 Census;
2. Investigate alternative sources for homeless statistics;
3. Provide and share information on progress regarding all homeless surveys/data projects and other relevant issues relating to homeless statistics;
4. Consider other statistical and measurement issues as necessary.
The CSO will be responsible for organising meetings and chairing the Group.
The agenda will be open and all members of the group are invited to suggest items for discussion or other research. Membership of the Group may be extended (permanently or temporarily) if necessary, depending on the subject being discussed, to include other representatives or organisations.
First meeting held on the 8th January 2015. More meetings will be held during the year to progress the development of the 2016 Census methodology to count homeless person.
