Central Statistics Office wishes to thank all those who made submissions in response to the Public Consultation Notice (PDF 28KB) which was published on 14 August 2008 in connection with Census 2011.
Over 90 submissions were received and an advisory group composed of representatives from Government departments, local authorities, public bodies, the social partners, universities and research institutes was set up to review these submissions.
Following a number of meetings by the consultative group, agreement was reached on the questions and methods to be tested in a Census Pilot Survey in April 2009.
Background:
Under EU regulation, Ireland along with all other EU countries are obliged to conduct a Census of Population in the year 2011.
