The Health and Crime Survey (HCS) is being carried out by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) in 2019. The main aim of the survey is to gather information on general health and wellbeing and the impact of crime on households in Ireland.

Selected households will be asked to complete a short questionnaire on the composition of the household. One member of the household will then be selected at random to answer the main questionnaire about health. The information gathered will help researchers analyse information on public health and healthcare use. The selected person will also be asked to give their perceptions, opinions and experience of crime and antisocial behaviour over the last 12 months.

The survey is a voluntary survey carried out under Section 24 of the Statistics Act, 1993.
