Your participation today helps plan for tomorrow

CSO regularly takes general and specific surveys of households, individuals and businesses.

Our role is to be an impartial collector and distributor of the facts about Ireland.

The CSO was established by the Statistics Act, 1993 and given the responsibility for “the collection, compilation, extraction and dissemination for statistical purposes of information relating to economic, social and general activities and conditions in the State".

The statistics we produce are used by individuals, businesses, local and national government to make policy decisions and to plan for the future.

To make sure that our statistics are accurate we rely on everyone’s participation throughout the country.
