Macroeconomics Statistics Liaison Group

Purpose

The group will function as a discussion forum on matters related to Macro Economic Statistics and to assist with understanding of existing or planned methodological changes.

The areas in scope are broadly National Accounts, including Sector Accounts, Financial Accounts and Government Finance Statistics, and Balance of Payments. 

Terms of Reference 

  • Group will meet three times yearly – in February, in June/July (shortly after the NIE release) and no later than November.
  • One representative per institution - can rotate depending on the subjects for discussion at any given meeting.
  • Group will function as a discussion forum on matters related to Macro Economic Statistics - assist with understanding of existing or planned methodological changes.
  • The first meeting in a given year will focus on planned statistical changes for that year.
  • The CSO members on the group will discuss issues raised. However the CSO context of limited resources and level of detail have to be taken into account.
  • Confidentiality of data must be respected at all times.
  • The areas in scope are broadly National Accounts (incl Sector Accounts, Financial Accounts and Government Finance Statistics) and Balance of Payments.
  • Statisticians will be invited to attend the meetings that involve their area of expertise / interest.
  • Agenda items for discussion can be proposed at a meeting for discussion at the next meeting or proposed in writing to the coordinator of the group.
