Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2013
The following report sets out progress on statistical legislative dossiers under the Irish Presidency from January to June 2013. The CSO Presidency Team wishes to thank all participants in the legislatvie process - notably Council delegates, Eurostat and the European Parliament - for their co-operation and help throughout the six months. We also wish to especially thank the support teams in the Council Secretariat and Council Legal Service who worked closely with the Presidency Team.
On 26 June 2013, the handover meeting of the Presidency of the Council Working Party on Statistics took place in the Central Statistics Office, Cork. Delegations from Ireland, Lithuania and Greece (the current Presidency Trio) and from Eurostat took part in the meeting. They discussed the current state of play of the statistical legislative dossiers dealt with by the Irish Presidency and the legislative pipeline which will impact on the Lithuanian and Greek Presidencies. The meeting also shared practical experience on organising the Presidency.

The CSO Presidency Team wishes to thank all the participants for their contribution to the meeting and we wish the incoming Presidency Team of Statistics Lithuania every success in their term of office.
A handover meeting of the Presidency of the Council Working Party on Statistics was held on the 20th of December in Nicosia, on the occasion of Ireland taking over the Presidency of the Council of Europe from Cyprus. This handover also marked the completion of the Poland-Denmark-Cyprus trio and the commencement of the Ireland-Lithuania-Greece trio.
The Irish Central Statistics Office was represented by Mr Pádraig Dalton, Director General and by Mr. Joe Treacy , Director, who presented the plans and priorities of the Irish Presidency for the first half of 2013.
The Irish Presidency will build on the progress made by previous presidencies and will strive to achieve progress on newly initiated legislative dossiers. The first meeting of the Council Working Party on Statistics under the Irish Presidency will take place on the 24th of January 2013.
