Data is collected from Irish Airports to provide information about transport of goods and passengers by air to, from and within Ireland.

Legislative Basis:

Regulation (EC) No. 437/2003 the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 February 2003 on statistical returns in respect of the carriage of passengers freight and mail by air.

Commission Regulation (EC) No. 1358/2003 of 31 July 2003

Statutory Instrument Number 91 of 2014 - Statistics (Carriage of Passengers, Freight and Mail by Air) Order 2013.

Periodicity:

Monthly and Annual

Target Population:

Irish Airports with at least 15,000 passenger units per year must provide data. Data reporting requirements differ depending on the size of the airport.

Sampling Frame:

Data is collected from all airports over the 15,000 passenger unit threshold.

Principal Variables Collected:

Reference period, Reporting airport, Arrival/Departure, Next/Previous airport, Scheduled/Non-scheduled service, Passenger/All Freight Service, Airline Information, Aircraft Type, No. of passengers on board, Weight of freight and mail on board, No. of commercial air flights, passenger seats available.
