Building and Construction Inquiry 2010
Micro enterprises in the Construction Sector in 2010 accounted for 38% of Construction Gross Value Added
The Central Statistics Office today publishes results from the 2010 Building and Construction Inquiry. These results are available on CSO’s Database Direct service, please see: http://cso.ie/shorturl.aspx/113
Main results from the survey are as follows:
- Just under 32,300 enterprises were engaged in Building and Construction in 2010 of which over 95% were micro enterprises (less than 10 persons engaged)
- Turnover of these enterprises exceeded €9.1 bn in 2010
- The number of persons engaged in these enterprises was just over 94,600
The Building and Construction Inquiry is a sample survey covering all enterprises which are wholly or principally involved in construction. It consists of a census of enterprises with 20 or more persons engaged and a random sample of the smaller units stratified by activity (NACE Revision 2) and employment size class.
